Twin Cities Results and Summary May 18th, 2013
Weather hasn’t been playing nice lately, but the Twin Cities Crew was not going to let it win this time. As rain started pouring down, most area tracks were cancelling their events, but the crew at TCRP was busy prepping the track to make sure that the area drivers had a place to race on May 18th. With the sun finally popping out, the grandstands were filling up with spectators, and haulers were lined up filling up the pit area. After a delay, the track was finally prepped, and a very exciting night of racing was under way.
Spectators were treated with some of the best racing in late models so far this season with drivers Jeremy Hines (5H), Shelby Miles (76), John Gill (75), Duane Chamberlain (20c), Jason Jameson (29) and Jason Smith (25s) putting on quite an aggressive show passing and trying to outsmart each other, showing off their expertise and abilities. Having his hands full shielding off some very tenacious drivers; Jeremy Hines sporting the 5H Late Model was able keep the lead rewarding himself to yet another win this season. Shelby Miles (76) followed in 2nd place with John Gill (75), Duane Chamberlain (20c), and Jason Smith (25s) rounding out the top five finishers.
Devin Gilpin (1G) keeps stacking up the 2013 wins taking the checkers over Trent Green (14), Derek Groomer (D48), Jacoby Hines (59H) and Clayton Perry (43c).
The Superstock Feature was just as exciting for the race fans, as they watched a furious battle between Tyler Cain (5C) and Troy Clark (13c) for most of the race. Tyler was able to keep the upper hand and take home the trophy. Troy Clark (13c) had to settle for 2nd with Tim Clark (1), Will McRoberts (5W), and Rick Gumm (113) rounding out the top five finishers.
In the purestock class, Troy Clark (11c) driving the Mark Bruce owned purestock car showed fans that a good car plus great talent equals out to a feature win. Jared Burton (X) won second place honors, with Greg Sims (7S), Brian Sims (14s), and Donnie Wilson (78) rounding out the top five for the night.
In the hornet division, Felisha DeWeese (27F) used her talents and outshined the rest tonight taking home the feature trophy. Rookie Jacob Owens (20) moving up from go-carts last year, coming on strong this year, was able to get a 2nd place finish, over Todd Cain (03), Jeff Patterson (75) and Cody Perry (38).
Join us next week, as we host the 21st Annual $1000 to win, $100 to start, Mark Clark Memorial in honor of Superstock Driver Mark Clark who lost his life in a tragic accident at a very young age. Come early to enjoy some of the activities that are planned for the fans! Some of the superstock drivers have volunteered to park their cars by the grandstand at 4pm, so that fans can get autographs, meet them and see their cars up close before the race. Lots of prizes will be given away! Also on tap, late models, modifeds, purestocks and hornets.
